Wild Bill Yorzyk learned to swim when he was 16 years old at Springfield College. That experience led him to become an Olympic gold medalist and ignited a life-long passion to help others. Bill strongly believed every child should learn to swim and feel comfortable in, on, and around water.
Help us with that goal.
For children ages 1-14, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death after motor vehicle crashes(1)
Formal swimming lessons reduce the likelihood of childhood drowning by 88%.
At age 8 and 9, children can more easily avoid a fear of the water allowing them to remain calm, support themselves in the water, and get help if needed.
There's much to do, when it comes to water safety. The Wild Bill Swim Team is partnering with local, regional, and national partners to help as many children in the local community learn basic swimming and water safety skills. We appreciate your interest and support!
